Tillandsia butzii will flourish if it receives enough humidity and moisture. It grows epiphytically at elevations of 1,000 to 2,300 meters. It is considered one of the strangest Tillandsias because its form and color. The base is a pseudobulb covered with a blending of brown and dark green. From the base the leaves grow curly, faster and exuberant once it has developed into a clump. T. butzii needs to be watered often and does not precise a lot of sunlight. Therefore, to avoid rotting, the best way to cultivate the clumps of T. butzii is in a hanging position.
